In 1718, Blackbeard ran his ship aground in Beaufort Inlet, Carteret County, North Carolina, in the present-day United States. In late 1996, Intersal, a private contractor working for the state of North Carolina on marine recovery, discovered the remains of a ship that was likely the Queen Anne's Revenge.

Big Ben is the nickname for the large bell of the clock at the north end of the Palace of Westminster in London, although today the name also refers to the clock and the clock tower. The bell weighs almost 14 tons and each clock face is 23 feet in diameter. It became fully operational on September 7, 1859, and today stands at 316 feet tall and is one of London's most prominent symbols. The clock requires winding three times a week and pennies are periodically added or removed from the pendulum clock to maintain its accuracy.
